National Minimum Wage

National Minimum Wage

The national minimum wage sets minimum hourly rates that employees must be paid. It is applicable to almost all UK workers and is age related. For employees aged 25 and over the current national minimum wage rate is £7.50 per hour. For employees aged between 21 and 24 the current national minimum wage rate is £7.05 per hour and for those between 18 and 20 £5.60 per hour. The national minimum wage protects the most vulnerable low paid workers: despite it being a legal minimum employees can find they are paid at a lower rate effective rate, often by way of an usual paying arrangement. A minimum wage is an employee’s right. Flexlaw can assist in upholding this.
